Climate Change StrategyMyRate is Australia's first-ever carbon neutral home loan provider  When you get a MyRate home loan not only do you access one of the lowest interest rates in Australia with NO FEES on standard applications but you also help reduce the impact on Global Warming. MyRate has been certified NoCO2 by the Carbon Reduction Institute. In order for MyRate to achieve NoCO2 certification, our processes were audited to calculate the full extent of our carbon impact. Emissions were calculated from energy usage, waste, employee transport, as well as the emissions embodied in the computers and phones we use. We now purchase carbon offsets – one credit for every tonne we emit, to make ourselves carbon neutral. 100% of this money is spent on energy efficiency and solar energy projects in order to make MyRate carbon neutral. Best of all, MyRate does not pass this cost onto our customers – so you pay no more while also caring for the environment. Furthermore, all home loans sold by MyRate carry the Carbon Neutral Product logo, which means that the emissions produced in creating each new home loan have been offset. The emissions from each MyRate loan amount to 94kg of CO2 or the equivalent of driving 330 km in a standard 2 Litre sedan. This may sound like a lot but since you apply and manage your loan online it is significantly less than other banks and credit unions that have several branches, buildings and employees. As part of our certification, we monitor and report changes in our emissions every quarter to correspond with any changes in our business such as the hiring of new employees.
